How to Care for and Clean Your Canvas Wall Art

Canvas prints are low-maintenance, but a little care keeps the colors sharp and the surface looking new for years. Here's what actually matters.

Everyday Dusting

Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth and wipe gently in one direction. Avoid feather dusters, which can catch on the canvas texture, and never use water or cleaning sprays directly on the surface.

Dealing With Marks or Smudges

If a mark doesn't come off with a dry cloth, lightly dampen a cloth with water (not chemicals) and blot gently — never rub in circles, which can push the mark deeper into the canvas fibers. Let it air dry fully before touching the surface again.

Placement Matters More Than Cleaning

The biggest factor in how well a canvas ages isn't cleaning — it's placement. Avoid hanging directly above radiators, fireplaces or in bathrooms with high humidity, where heat and moisture can affect the canvas and stretcher bars over time. Direct, all-day sunlight will gradually fade any printed material, canvas included, so an interior wall out of constant direct sun will keep colors truest for longest.

Hanging and Handling

Each canvas ships with a hanging kit where available. Handle the piece by the wooden stretcher frame edges rather than pressing on the printed surface, especially when unpacking or repositioning it.
